Pottery was originally invented in the Neolithic period in Ancient China. As they learned more about the craft and created new techniques, the style of pottery changed vastly. Eventually, the pottery items were created using a wide variety of colors, patterns and designs that would take hours and even days to create.
Porcelain was not introduced until about 100 AD, when crafters developed a high firing kiln. Both pottery and porcelain are developed and created using essentially the same methods, with the exception of the firing temperatures.
At Bon Vivant, we feature figurines, accessories, dresser sets, vases, miniatures, wallpockets and much more that has been crafted from porcelain or pottery. If you are looking for porcelain dinnerware, you can find it in the tab entitled “Dinnerware.”
